Generous technology funding for the Museen Stade by Olin
Digital formats play an increasingly important role for the Museen Stade, especially in times of Corona. Already in the first lockdown, the special exhibitions were made accessible to a broad public via online short films. Furthermore the unusual program of the education department was broadcasted via podcasts and the permanent exhibitions via media stations. In addition, the Museen Stade are staying in contact with their visitors via various social media channels. "Digital education and communication formats are becoming more and more important to us," says museum director Dr. Sebastian Möllers. A good quality of the offers is of particular importance for the acceptance by the media experienced users. This also plays an important role in the medium of film. In this segment, the Museen Stade would like to take a big step towards the professionalization of their offers. This is made possible thanks to generous funding from Olin from Bützfleth. Olin is an American company and, among other things, a global leader in the manufacture and development of epoxy resins, which are an important component of wind blades, lightweight construction materials and coatings, for example. In 2015, the company expanded its portfolio by taking over production areas from DOW Chemical and has since then also been present in the Stader industrial area on the Elbe, as well as in the CFK-Nord research center. The group identifies with its Stader location and has supported regional projects in the areas of social affairs, culture, education, the environment and natural sciences right from the start. This year, the Museen Stade can look forward to a donation that should make it possible to equip the film area in such a way that professional documentaries can be made in the future. A cooperation with the youth leisure center in the so called Schlachthof is to be expanded, which makes the technology, but also the topics of the museum accessible to young people. With the support of the well-known documentary filmmaker Ingrid Anna Fischer, who was also born in Bützfleth, short portraits of the Lower Elbe are to be created and document the changes in our region as well as important personal aspects of this development through interviews with contemporary witnesses. "We are really happy about the support from Olin", says museum director Dr. Sebastian Möllers. “We finally have a complete, professional film equipment that enables us to implement our own projects in the field of audiovisual anthropology. We envision producing short films that depict the country and its people in their cultural, social and economic context. It is always about a depth of time. We want to trace the local concept of home and the anchor points of regional identity." “Especially in the current situation, digital education and communication formats play a special role for cultural institutions. We are therefore happy to expand the range of offers at the Museen Stade with our donation. Using film portraits to document the changes in our region, to which we feel very attached, is a very interesting project for us. Involving young people in this process also plays an important role for us as a training company,” says Holger Bär, Site Leader and Managing Director of Olin in Germany, on the motivation for promoting his company. The first results of the film work will be shown in the course of 2021 and published via the museum's digital channels. |
